A dog named Sniffles, who unfortunately lost his nose after being attacked by other dogs, is currently looking for a loving home. Thankfully, a local news story has led to many potential dog owners showing interest in adopting him. Sniffles has had a challenging life so far, having been abandoned in Puerto Rico and suffering from various health issues due to the attack by stray dogs. However, after receiving medical care in the US and gaining attention from a Florida-based animal rescue, Sniffles is slowly recovering and may soon have a happy ending by finding a forever home.
According to reports, Sniffles had a rough time living in Puerto Rico under terrible conditions. He suffered from multiple parasites such as hookworms and whipworms and urgently requires dental care. Moreover, he is missing his nose due to an attack by other stray dogs that left multiple wounds and injuries. After a local animal rescue group found him, he was adopted by a family in the US who hoped to provide him with better medical care.
However, Sniffles’ temporary stay with his previous owner didn’t go as planned. Due to his constant need for medical attention, he was always at risk, especially since he kept running away. Fortunately, Poodle and Pooch Rescue in Florida came to the rescue. This non-profit group is dedicated to saving 500 to 600+ dogs annually, and they took in Sniffles on December 19. The rescue team immediately set out to find him a forever home, and even landed him an appearance on WESH, a local news channel based in Orlando, on December 24.
Sniffles’ fortune has taken a turn since then. More than a hundred people have shown interest in adopting him, and his story continues to spread far and wide. According to a spokesperson for the shelter, the ideal adopter for Sniffles would be someone who is committed to cleaning his nasal passage twice a day and providing him with daily eye drops for his dry eye condition. The spokesperson also revealed that Sniffles was found to be infested with hookworms and whipworms, which suggests that he was living in unsanitary conditions before being taken into their care. In addition, he tested positive for Ehrlichia, a disease caused by tick bites, but he is undergoing treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.
Despite the challenges he faces due to his health issues, Sniffles still has a deep fondness for humans. According to Lynch, Sniffles is a tough little guy who has managed to overcome his difficult past and become more outgoing over time. He enjoys spending time outdoors, snuggling up with people, and has a great rapport with other dogs. His unique condition also means he makes adorable snorting sounds that are sure to bring a smile to anyone’s face.
