Saying Goodbye to a Faithful Canine: A Marine’s Touching Tribute to His Beloved Companion Fighting Bone Cancer and Their Indestructible Connection.

Jeff DeYoung, a former member of the United States Marine Corps, wished to hold a special ceremony for his loyal companion, Cena, who was a black Labrador that stood by him through thick and thin. During Jeff’s service in Afghanistan, Cena provided him with warmth during cold nights and later on, helped him deal with physical pain after he returned home to the United States. To honor the bond shared between them, Jeff wanted to conduct a farewell ceremony that was fitting for a Marine.

The veteran had a special bond with Cena, his former bomb-sniffer and service dog who recently passed away due to cancer. He believed that it was important to pay his respects to the beloved animal who meant so much to him. Even though Cena retired from the Marines in 2014, he continued to serve as a service dog for Lance Cpl. Jeff DeYoung until his death.
